Tortoise thief jailed 6 months

A MAN who stole 18 tortoises from the Chinese Garden was jailed for six months on Tuesday.
Lim Kah Kheng, 24, originally accused of housebreaking and theft, pleaded guilty to house trespass at The Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum at Chinese Garden Road on Nov 26, 2006.
His two accomplices who acted as his lookouts and helped him to carry the tortoises when he climbed out were given warning.
All the tortoises were recovered from his home and returned to the owner.
He could have been jailed for up to seven years for the offence.
